Embedded World 2025 - Session powered by GCF

Established in Nuremberg back in March 2003, the embedded world Conference is now going into its 23rd edition in 2025. The original concept of a unique combination of an exhibition for engineers and technical management on one hand and a world-leading conference at the intersection of applied research and industrial applications on the other hand has proven extremely successful. embedded world Exhibition & Conference is driven by technology as well as applications with a strong focus on system and cross domain aspects. And it is driven by the embedded community – and its annual meeting point.

Global Certification Forum (GCF), an Embedded World Community Partner is powering a session at the event:

Day 2 - 12 March 2025 - Session 1.14 IOT & CONNECTIVITY

Cellular IoT: Emerging Technologies – powered by GCF

Session moderator:  Carlos Pedraz Rodríguez, GCF

12.45-13.15 GCF Certification for Emerging IoT Cellular Technologies: 5G RedCap and NTN NB-IoT

Presenter:  Carlos Pedraz Rodríguez, GCF

GCF certification is essential for launching cellular mobile devices, as many operators and IoT projects require it for network access. Testing criteria are updated quarterly to integrate new technologies, ensuring industry-wide optimization. GCF collaborates with industry leaders to certify 5G RedCap for simplified IoT devices and NTN NB-IoT for satellite connectivity. GCF’s certification provides assurance to network operators, consumers, and industrial users when deploying IoT solutions.

13.15-13.45 SGP.32: Advancing Remote SIM Provisioning for the IoT

Presenter:  Bertrand Moussel, Trusted Connectivity Alliance

eSIM enables secure and interoperable connectivity, but IoT growth presents challenges for network and UI-constrained devices. To address this, SGP.32 introduces a dedicated eSIM architecture that simplifies remote provisioning and large-scale IoT management. This ensures reliable, secure, and scalable deployments across various IoT use cases. TCA will outline SGP.32’s key features, compliance procedures, and its role in building trust for IoT solutions.

13.45-14.15 GCF Certification of Remote SIM Provisioning for Devices with IoT eSIM

Presenter:  Lars Nielsen, GCF

GSMA’s Consumer SIM technology allows users to securely download SIM profiles to eSIM-capable devices. To support IoT, GSMA has developed SGP.32 IoT eSIM, optimizing remote management for unattended devices. This new standard simplifies manufacturing, distribution, activation, and operation of IoT devices. In 2025, GCF will launch a certification program to ensure secure and reliable remote SIM provisioning for IoT eSIM-capable devices.

14.15-14.30 Discussion and Q&A
